Three goals by Maxime Furlotte proved the undoing of the MacLean Construction PEI CG’s soccer team and they fell to Moncton 4-3 in Maritime Senior Soccer League action on Saturday evening. PEI CG’s striker Will Allen opened the scoring in the 17th minute only to have Furlotte tie it 2 minutes later and then pull ahead by one in the 40th for a first half lead of 2-1. It was a half where the CG’s side by far outchanced Moncton however were unable to finish. This would eventually come back to haunt then in the second half.
Moncton’s Mathew Sonier made it 3-1 in the 60th minute, however PEI fought back to tie the game with goals by Jared Murphy (64th) and Allen’s second of the game (67th ), only to have Furlotte net his third and his hat trick (69th ). The CG’s squad applied pressure to the end but were unable to get the tying goal. Brett MacDonald took the loss in goal for PEI.
